9 Reasons Why West Palm Beach’s Craft Brewery Scene is Getting HOT + Will Get Hotter

Our Journey

2016-09-20-color-logo-with-snifter-and-barleySo, why is everyone talking about West Palm Beach as the hot, new craft brewery scene in South Florida?

  1. New laws. The City of West Palm Beach passed first-ever brewery regulations in September of 2016, paving the way for small lot production of beer in the downtown area and the operation of tap rooms within the city.
  2. Cidery expands to brewery.  The “cidery” in the Westgate part of town known as Accomplice Cider has expanded to now offer craft beer. http://www.accomplicebrewery.com/  They have changed their name to Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks. (Accomplice is a very cool, small brewery with an industrial feel with a small outdoor area just south of Okeechobee Blvd and just west of 95.  Easy access. If you love cider, you MUST visit Accomplice.)
  3. Restaurant Will Brew.   A longtime favorite restaurant on South Dixie’s “restaurant row“, Dixie Bar & Grille, http://dixiegrillandbar.com/has said that they will start to produce craft beer right on the premises in small batches and offer it to customers.  They already offer about 28 beers on tap and will give you the chance to try their home brew. 5101 S. Dixie Hwy., West Palm Beach; 561-586-3189
  4. Established Expansion to Warehouse District. South Florida brewery Tequesta Brewing http://www.tequestabrewing.com/and Twisted Trunk http://www.twistedtrunkbrewing.com/have said they are coming to the Warehouse District in West Palm Beach. This is great news for the city, businesses, and craft beer lovers in Palm Beach County. Why? Well, the owners of this new Steam Horse Brewery are established.   They make good craft beer, their beer is available in stores and in fine restaurants and area bars.  They could have expanded anywhere but chose West Palm Beach’s warehouse district.  That’s a great vote of confidence.
  5. Upstarts Start Up.  Ookapow Brewing Company 1142 Old Okeechobee Rd., Bay 6A is a brand new endeavor that is also coming to the Warehouse District to make beer.  http://www.ookapow.com/  Craft beer lovers get excited with upstarts and love the “little guy” getting into the scene.
  6. Downtown Gets Historic 1st Brewery.  Dan Galasso is leading the charge in the downtown area where “local guys making beer right here” will occur on the 300 block of Evernia. He will head up the West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault http://westpalmbeer.com/offering “craft beer made right here” at 332 Evernia Street, two blocks west of beautiful Flagler Drive and the intracoastal waterway, and 1 block east of the new Brightline Train Station http://www.allaboardflorida.com/stations/west-palm-beach by All Aboard Florida. http://www.allaboardflorida.com/stations/west-palm-beach “West Palm Brewery is literally a short walk from the Convention Center and Hilton Hotel, http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florida/hilton-west-palm-beach-PBIWPHH/index.html , CityPlace, http://www.cityplace.com/, Clematis Street and such great restaurants as Regional Kitchen, http://www.eatregional.com/CityCellar  http://www.citycellarwpb.com/and Rocco’s Tacos.  http://www.roccostacos.com/ We will have food trucks and large tv’s, but…..   We believe that after or before dinner, many customers will stop by to have a beer inside by our fireplace or to watch a game, or enjoy a beautiful Florida evening in our outdoor beer garden under the stars.”
  7. People are Taking Notice. The media is already abuzz about these craft beer entrepreneurs and risk takers.  West Palm Brewery’s Galasso has already been interviewed on the radio, by The New Times http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/and is scheduled to appear on morning television of a national network affiliate in West Palm.   http://www.browardpalmbeach.com/restaurants/west-palm-beach-is-about-to-become-south-floridas-new-microbrewery-hub-8226491
  8. Location, location, location.   All these West Palm Beach breweries are within walking distance or a short Uber ride to the Palm Beach County Convention Center Hilton Hotel, the Convention Center, http://www.pbconventioncenter.com/the Kravis Center, http://www.kravis.org/, CityPlace, the intracoastal waterway and Flalger Drive, Clematis Street, the Marriott West Palm Beach, Hyatt Place and Residence Inn by Marriott. Oh yes… and Palm Beach, the town itself.  Want to stay at the Breakers or the Brazilian Court but come to the mainland and have a great craft brew? Come over the middle bridge and take your pick!.
  9. Lotta Buzz.  Whole lotta construction goin’ on.  Just look at the 300 block of Evernia Street, where West Palm Brewery chose to go.  There is a 14 story condo that’s almost complete, a brand new 9 story apartment complex under construction on an entire block between Evernia and Datura on South Dixie and Quadrile.  The Brightline Train Station will bring in passengers one stop from Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale and two stops from Miami.  Oh yes, that Brightline Train Station will also have a 24 story tower of either apartments or apartments and a new hotel. So, street life and pedestrian traffic are on the rise.  And all those folks downtown will get thirsty and want to hang somewhere. “This reminds me of Mary Brickell Village in Miami, about 10 years ago, but on a smaller scale” said Galasso.  “Upscale, new construction, great train service and lots of new, relatively affluent residents and business persons.  The opportunity to create an upscale, craft foodie experience is amazing. And please remember: we will also serve premium, small lot wine from Napa and California that you can’t get anywhere else.”
