Heitz Cellars, History and Excellence

Our Journey

At Heitz Cellars they believe both in tradition and in innovation. After all, what good is a great history of wine making if you cannot improve upon it over time? Producing wines that outdo the previous bottling is one of the goals at this outstanding vineyard and you’ll definitely want to pay them a visit to try some of the delicious vintages they have to offer. Whether you enjoy a lovely Chardonnay or a Cabernet Sauvignon, the cellar is sure to have a wine that will set your soul on fire.

Heitz is about history and excellence

The cellar and vineyards were established in 1961, which means they have had decades to perfect their wines, which were already great. Over the course of over 50 years, they have taken their wines to an entirely new level, improving upon each vintage as they go and holding to their goal to out-produce themselves in quality. Much like they say about writing, a winemaker is their own worst critic, which means this vineyard will be producing better wines every year while they strive against themselves.

The vineyards themselves are decidedly picturesque, with views that look out onto the region of St. Helena, complete with a lovely landscape that will take your breath away. Be sure to attend a free wine tasting and enjoy some time sitting on the patio and taking in the views, as the atmosphere of this winery is like coming home.

Making it onto the highest lists

Heitz wines have received mentions from many interesting sources, including the White House itself. Many presidents have enjoyed their wine while dining, which says quite a lot for the quality of their wines. We’re not surprised by these lofty heights, as we’ve tried their wines ourselves and found them to be of the utmost quality and character.

If you don’t mind a bit of a line, the free wine tasting option is a great one, offering up to five different wines for you to try. The traffic in the wine tasting room can get pretty heavy, so be sure to call ahead to see how the day is looking. No matter what, it is worth the wait to try their wines. Their Cabernet Sauvignon has an abundance of character and you’re sure to fall in love with it.

Tell us about the wines you try

We love hearing from our readers, so be sure to leave us a comment about any of the Heitz Cellars wine you have had the opportunity to enjoy. Also, if you happen to be in South Florida this October, remember to stop in and see us! We’ll be opening our doors to the public then and would love to see you. From all of us here at West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault, happy tasting!
