Our Journey

Outpost Wines may sound like a lost, semi-forgotten place in the middle of the Outback of Australia, but that image could not be further from the truth. This beautiful vineyard is located in the Howell Mountain AVA and features the kind of scenic views you’d expect from California with its lush foliage and impressive landscape.

Although the vineyard and winery were only established in 1998, they have gained a reputation for outstanding premium wines that really do entice the senses and draw you in for that first taste like a fully ripened peach in summer. With Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon vines whose fruit truly embody the unique features of this terroir, they’ve found their niche and proven themselves fully capable of producing some of the best wines of the area.

Since their inception, this amazing winemaker has been driven to produce wines that truly show the world how unique and delicious wine can be when made from the best fruit of this appellation. After carefully selecting where to place the blocks and plant the vines, the folks at Outpost took even further steps to improve the chances of their crops being some of the best in the area.

Their dedication to providing a great environment for their vines has led them to institute sustainable farming practices, as well as leaning their efforts towards organic growing. Their smaller size makes it far easier for them to operate in the most natural manner possible whereas larger vineyards have to contend with greater overhead when converting to such methods. In keeping their operation at a workable size, they’ve made sure that they can continue to provide their loyal followers with outstanding organically produced wines while maintaining high quality and great taste.

Visit Outpost and taste the difference for yourself

Although you must make reservations to visit Outpost Wines, the experience is certainly worth the time and effort. Make sure to contact them directly for larger parties as they will need to make arrangements for your tasting. Taking a tour will give you the chance to fully immerse yourself in the environment the wines come from, giving you a deeper understanding of their character, flavor, and aroma, all unique to their terroir.
