The craft brewing industry seems to have blown up over the past couple of decades. With new craft breweries popping up all over the United States, it can be hard to decide which amazing brews to bring home. We’ve spent several months testing a variety of brews from different breweries and even we have to sit and think harder about which have been the best. After all, can there really be a “best” craft beer? Isn’t the entire concept of craft brewing to be unique?
With that in mind, we set out to find some amazing brews that we think you will love because that is our end goal. To provide craft beer for our customers that they want to try again and again. Until our opening in April, we’re focusing on a lot of our competitors, because in this industry we realize we have to support each other. Besides, we have no problem telling you about the beers that really rock out in the world. That is what the craft beer community is about, sharing our experiences and the brews we’ve tried.
First up on our list is the delicious 60 Minute IPA from Dogfish Head Brewing Company. These guys have a great habit of putting forth outstanding craft beer and this one is no exception to that rule. As you can see, the head on this stuff is pretty impressive, though we’ve featured it in a Tiffany glass instead of the standard Tulip glass used by most. To be honest, we kind of like these glasses, but maybe that is because they give the brew an almost spirit look? Either way, this brew is great, no matter the glassware or the location where you’re drinking it. We suggest doing so on the beach, watching a sunset, and reflecting on the day or week with friends, but that’s just us.
This is an American IPA, with an ABV of 6%, so not too heavy in the ABV department. That just means you can sip a couple with friends without worrying about heady effects. The flavor is what really caught us, though. This super hoppy brew is delicious if you like hoppy beers. It goes through a 60-minute boil, with the addition of 60 hop infusions throughout. I think we’ve figured out where the name came from. It’s certainly not a coincidence. If you like hoppy brews, you really should check this one out, because we were impressed, to say the least.
Next on the list of amazing brews is the outstanding Breakfast Stout. We had to smile at the artwork on this one because there is something cherubic about it. However, there is nothing innocent about this tasty craft beer. This double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout even sounds like a full breakfast in a bottle! Ok, perhaps the chocolate isn’t the perfect choice for breakfast, but the blend of this brew works it in there perfectly and chocoholics will love it!
The aroma of this beer has hints of chocolate, coffee, and malt, which is sure to wake you up just as well as a hot cup of coffee. The mouth of the brew is smooth and deep, which we expect from an Imperial Coffee Stout. The mix of bitter and sweet chocolates in the brew comes together great with the oatmeal flake and coffee. The only thing we regret is that we can’t substitute this for our morning coffee, as the 8.3% ABV means we’re taking the train. Sad times, but great beer.
Sure, we all know work is a necessary evil, but we have to remember that we need to relax sometimes too. Remember to take a few minutes to relax each day. When you get the chance if you’re a beer lover who likes to try new brews and find the amazing brews out there, do it. You won’t regret it and the time spent chatting with other taproom patrons or friends will be well spent. We hope to see you later this year in West Palm Beach after we open our own brewery and taproom and until then, check out some of the great beer we feature!
