Brewery for Wine Lovers

OK wine lovers, aficionados, enthusiasts………….. you LOVE wine, right?  But, do you know the secret to finding the best, limited, and selectively sourced vineyard-designate premium wines in Palm Beach? Believe it or not, but the best wine bar and wine store is a “boutique” in a brewery.    What?  Yup, that’s right: the most exciting wine offerings by glass and bottle are at a wine bar in a brewery.  The West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault at 332 Evernia Street, West Palm Beach, Florida 33401, just a block east of the Brightline Train Station.     http://www.Gobrightline.com Take note wine lovers.  To learn more about getting premium and ultra premium wine from great AVAs at 20%-50% off of what you would pay on the Silverado Trail in Napa, or on Rt. 29, or on Rt. 12 in Sonoma, read on, and get on over to The Vault !

  • Quality.    “When I decided to open a brewery, I wanted to offer top notch wine” says West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault owner John Pankauski.  Pankauski is actually a “wine guy” and wine lover, well before he became interested in craft beer. “I wanted to create a great place and experience in downtown West Palm Beach, not far from The Breakers Hotel  https://www.thebreakers.com/  and the airport, where you could still visit even if you did not drink beer.”    So, back in 2107, as he was in the final stages of his brewery construction, a wine bar, retail shop and brewery restaurant   https://www.westpalmbeer.com/our-food/ were added.
  • Selection.  The wine bar for wine lovers at the West Palm Beach Brewery is actually right in the tap room and viewable from the production facility and fermentation room.  “I wanted to create a tasting room atmosphere like you get in Napa https://www.napavalley.com/says Pankauski.  And he has.  The wine bar or tasting room has a large, wall size photo of “just-harvested” grapes in the hands of the vineyard worker, along with a stone cut bar and columns. There are lots of wine glasses and an under mounted refer to keep his top notch Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and White Rhone blend cool.  Look for Pankauski to release a 2018 Gruner Vetliner called “groovy”, from his 2 ton of grapes he purchased from the Arroyo Perdido Vineyard in Santa Barbara. “We have over 30 wines to offer and we will shortly have over 50 ” says Pankauski.  Indeed, there is something for everybody —from his sell out Rose’ (they sold out of 90 cases in 6 months but have more), to two styles of Chardonnay (a more typical Cali style plus a Chablis-like offering from three AVAs), to rought and tumble Zin, Syrah and Grenaches to top flight Cabs.
  • Delicious Wines .  Pankauski offers a number of big Napa reds including Cabernet Sauvignon from such heralded AVAs as Howell Mountain, Rutherford, Stags Leap District, Coombsville and red blends from Oakville.  “Our Napa Cabs are stunning” he boasts.  They are.  But there is a more nuanced or delicate side to that wine palate at this wine lover bar, dubbed The Vault.  This wine lover bar offers 8 Pinot Noirs from such AVAs as Sonoma, Sonoma Coast, Fort Ross Seaview, Sta. Rita Hills and the Santa Lucia Highlands.  Try the Palm Beach Pinot from the 2016 vintage, Sta. Rita Hills.
  • Exclusivity.   Pankauski uses his contacts in wine country to get grapes from top flight vineyards and vineyard direct connections he has with winemakers and winery owners.  In many cases, he knows the vineyard management teams who farm the vineyards.  And you won’t find these for sale anywhere else. For now.   The high quality comes at a cost for both this wine bar and the consumer.  The grapes are expensive, so quantities are small, typically 25-300 cases.  His Dad’s Blend, a nod to his late father with Dad’s WWII US Marine photo as the wine label, is the highest production at 300 cases.
  • Brewery for Wine Lovers.  So, this brewery, with its live music stage, multiple HD TVs to capture sporting events also has a restaurant and wine lovers bar.  This is definitely the brewery for wine lovers.  His patrons include many couples and friends who know that you can come here, get a delicious meal or snack from the wood fire oven kitchen, and you can enjoy great wine if you’re not into craft beer.  Check out the living room near the wine bar, which is street side and fills up quickly.  You can also reserve the VIP room for a private tasting, wine dinner, which can be paired with craft beers.   https://www.westpalmbeer.com/our-beers/   Check out block parties for CD releases, live bands, The Polka King Jan Lewan, and rescue dog days by following them on Facebook where they post events, tap parties and wine release bashes.  @wpbrewery     Look for their wine on tap program to expand with new offerings you won’t get anywhere else.
