The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of Cuvaison Estate Wines are well-known in the region, having gained a reputation for their aroma and flavor that has brought to them a long list of loyal followers. The history of the estate is one rich with laughter, dedication, and a love for the craft of great winemaking that spans over three decades of experience.
This lengthy history has resulted in some amazing features to the Cuvaison Estate Wines, including the art of their labels, which were designed by Andy Warhol himself. These designs were commissioned in the early 1980’s by Alexander Schmidheiny, the owner of Cuvaison. These prints, having been private commissions, were rarely seen until the release of the Andy Warhol by Cuvaison collection, which celebrates the collaboration in conjunction with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The labels are done in Warhol’s classic pop art style and are quite lovely, the wines delicious, and the entire collection is a temptation for those who love to collect wines for their racks.
The vineyards of Cuvaison Estate Wines are very well managed and organized, with close attention paid to the needs of each varietal. Located in Carneros AVA, the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines flourish and the resulting wines show clear characteristics of the outstanding micro-climate of their chosen sections. The winemaker of this lovely estate carefully selects grapes from their harvests in order to produce the best possible results and then oversees the process very closely, ensuring a great bottling.
In addition to the careful consideration given to the planting and harvest of these vineyards, the Cuvaison Estate has taken a strong turn towards Green Energy, which has led to them installing solar panels over the roof of the winery, which helps them to reduce their carbon footprint upon the Earth. Not only are they involved in Green Energy, they’ve taken steps to become more Green in other areas as well! As a conscientious winemaking estate, they hold the following certifications:
These certifications have been earned through careful practices including soil management, water management, pest management, quality control, ecosystem friendliness, and energy efficiency. We’re proud to be featuring this vineyard, as their efforts to provide a cleaner, healthier future for their community is something we love to see.
We absolutely love to hear the stories of our readers, so if you get the opportunity to visit Cuvaison Estate Wines, leave us a comment and tell us about your experience. Be sure to mention which of the delicious Cuvaison wines you tasted during your visit as well so that others will know what to ask about when they visit this lovely estate.
Until then, happy tasting from all of us here at West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault in South Florida, where we’re working hard to get ready for our own opening later this year!
