What is Gruner Vetliner? Gruner Vetliner is an Austrian grape which has been described as a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay on the palate. “My 2018 groovy Gruner Vetliner is a wine that strikes amazing balance. Some fruit, minerality, a touch of very light citrus on the back end. This is a Gruner Vetliner which somms (sommeliers) and consumers with both like” says Pankauski. And, he wants everyone to know that his groovy Gruner Vetliner is NOT a sweet or fruity wine. It’s elegant and refined but approachable.
Santa Barbara Gruner Vetliner One of Pankauski’s favorite AVA’s is the Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Barbara. “I had a bottle of the Spear Gruner Vetliner the other night with stone crabs. Just delicious. They do a great job.” With stone crab season coming to an end in May of 2019, look for the West Palm Beach Brewery & Wine Vault to expand their food options next season with a raw bar, stone crabs, Maine lobster and high grade seafood.
