Inglenook Vineyards: Making Rutherford proud

Our Journey

Starting in 1879, this lovely estate has a long history of great wines behind it. Founded by the Finnish sea captain, Gustave Niebaum, the estate has grown over the centuries into the beautiful and bountiful facility he envisioned even then. Currently owned by Francis and Eleanor Coppola, the estate, which had at one point been provisioned off into sections, has been completely restored and the wines coming from this palatial location are absolutely stunning.

Did you say Francis Coppola?

Yes, we most certainly did. He and his wife purchased part of the property in the 1970’s and fell in love with it. They soon realized that the estate had been much larger, with several vineyard blocks that no longer belonged to the estate, so they set out to make the property whole again. They used the proceeds they had gained from Bram Stoker’s Dracula to fund the dream and finally, in 1997, the property was officially reclaimed and the gorgeous chateau was completely restored. This led to one very impressive gala for the reopening of the estate and they soon purchased the neighboring J.J. Cohn property in order to bring production back to the estate itself.

By 2003 the caves were born and this majestic vineyard estate was finally exactly what the Coppolas had dreamed of. However, it was the wines that won people’s hearts, thanks to the wise decision to team up with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Although the caves were a much-needed addition to the operation, and quite celebrated, the Coppolas were already producing amazing premium wines several years before, with their Blancaneaux wine having been released in 2000. This delicious white was so named to honor their estate in Belize, a land of beauty and adventure, which this wine certainly possesses in spades.
