Sciandri Family Vineyards in the Coombsville AVA

Our Journey

At Sciandri Family Vineyards in the Coombsville AVA they love to get their hands dirty and truly experience the vines that help them to produce amazing premium wines for us to enjoy. With several decades of experience to pair with their dedication and drive, they’ve created a legacy that we foresee lasting quite a long time. That said, we’d like to tell you a bit about this outstanding vineyard and the folks that manage it.

Sometimes you just have to follow tradition

The Sciandri family is not new to the wine making industry. Quite the opposite in fact. For several generations, this family produced lovely Italian wines in the Tuscan region of Italy, making it a natural choice for the family when they purchased twenty acres in the Coombsville AVA of California’s Napa Valley wine region. Their Tuscan roots have certainly served them well, as what began as a simple twenty-acre section has grown from a producer of outstanding grapes for other wineries, into one that produces their own delicious premium wines.

By keeping their operation small in size, they have been able to perfect their growing practices, closely tend their vines, and balance their production until their wines were perfect. This has also allowed them to grow their reputation over time from that of a grape producer to one of a proper vineyard and winery that offers a selection of wines that has quite a following.

Delicious wines come from great sources

By sourcing grapes within their own vineyard blocks, the Sciandri family has been able to select only the best of their harvest for their wines. Starting with a lovely Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, they’ve since grown and expanded to include Nello, a delightful vintage named after their father, as well as Cuvee, Rose, and Sauvignon Blanc, all of which have a distinct character.

Their dedication wine, Nello, was named for the man who taught them about proper farming practices, giving them the foundation for their success. This wine is an absolute delight, with all five of their varietals included in the blend. The care taken to produce this wine is nothing short of devotional, with all of the grapes hand selected before a nearly three-year aging in French Oak barrels before another year of aging in the bottle. Such dedication to perfection deserves a definite nod of respect, as the blend shows how very much appreciation they have for the man it is named for.

Tell us about your experience!

Have you tried any of the Sciandri family wines? Perhaps you are a member of their wine club and have taken the time to visit their lovely vineyard. If so, tell us about it! We love to hear from our readers and would enjoy hearing your story. Stop by and leave us a comment and perhaps your story will be the inspiration for our next post.

In the meantime, here in South Florida, we are working hard to get ready for the opening of our craft brewery and wine vault later this year. We plan to feature some of the best wines in the country, as well as plenty of delicious craft beer, so make sure to stop in after our opening. We look forward to seeing everyone there and until then, happy tasting from all of us at West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault!
