Sometimes the Road to Ruin is delicious

Our Journey

Here at West Palm Beach Brewery and Wine Vault, we have spent the past few months working hard to get ready for our opening later this year.  The weather in West Palm Beach, Florida has been holding out for us, which is a huge help in our efforts.  However, even with the best weather and the best workers, we do occasionally need to take a break.  This time, our break brought us back to Two Roads Brewing Company, whose brews we’ve been tasting randomly over the past few weeks.

Today our selection was Road 2 Ruin, a delicious double IPA from Two Roads that promised to be outstanding.  The brew kept that promise from the moment we poured it to the very last sip and we’re really glad we chose it for this feature because Two Roads is really gaining a lot of our respect with their brews and this one is no exception to their great reputation.

The Road 2 Ruin is a lot more fun than our parents said it would be

We all remember those fateful words from our elders.  “You’re headed down the road to ruin kid.  You better straighten up.” seems to have been one of the favorites for those we considered wise when we were kids.  They were also the same folks we never listened to as we were headed off to get involved in one set of shenanigans or another, but that is entirely beside the point.

It turns out that the Road 2 Ruin is a lot more enjoyable than our parents ever mentioned it would be.  Sure, we might have a bit of a headache in the morning if we overdo it, but overall the taste of this brew was well-worth not heeding those sage words.  While we didn’t get a picture of the brew in the glass (sorry, we got excited), we did make a few notes on this outstanding double IPA, which you can read below:

  • Pour:  This brew pours a nice golden orange with plenty of head that dissipates over time into some nice lacing on the glass.
  • Aroma:  Citrusy as is expected of a double IPA, a bit of an earthy or grassy hint in there as well.
  • Taste:  The huge hops bill on this one allows for a big citrus kick to the flavor profile, with just a bit of pine hiding in there.  Exactly what we expect of a double IPA.
  • Finish:  This brew finishes slightly sweet and lingers in a good way.  The ABV is well-hidden so keep your eye on this one.
  • Overall:  Road 2 Ruin is a great double IPA for kicking back at the end of the day, but we wouldn’t suggest it for any time before your day is done due to how well the ABV is hidden.  The first one might not get you, but the third one certainly will.

We definitely suggest grabbing some Road 2 Ruin and checking it out for yourself.  We realize everyone has different tastes and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.  Remember to pop back in here and leave us a comment about what you thought of the brew!  We love to hear from our readers and if you mention some of the other Two Roads brews you’ve tried, one of them just might spark our next feature!
