Spring is coming and that means remembering the winter brews wistfully

Our Journey

We love Spring.  Spring brings with it a lot of changes, including a variety of new brews.  We love to see new brews come out, because trying new and creative brews is always exciting.  We’re looking forward to the brews that are due to come out this upcoming season, but thought we’d take a day to reminisce over the brews of the past.  For example, we’ve tried a wide variety of IPAs, Porters, Stouts, and Sessionable Ales that we’ve happily featured and touted as great (because they were) and we miss some of those seasonal brews that we’ve found over time.

Brews such as Founders Brewing Company’s Mosaic Promise helped to keep the winter warm and cozy and we may or may not have stashed away a few of them out of pure snarkyness.  We hate to let go of the seasonal brews, as you never know if they might be retired at some point.  That’s why we have a crate with brews like Mosaic Promise, Nutcracker Ale from Boulevard Brewing, and Vanilla Maduro from Cigar City Brewing hidden away as collector’s pieces, just in case.

Collecting bottle of great brews is a fun way to remember adventures

We love to collect brews when we can.  It helps us to remember all of the great places we’ve been across the United States during our travels.  For example, the bottle of NIB Smuggler Milk Chocolate Stout we kept from our Funky Buddha collection (we’re told that our resident Portaholic has more than one) and the lovely bottles of Founders Brewing Company Porter that we stashed even though it’s a regular brew for that great craft brewery.  We’d love to collect one of every single bottle we come across, but we don’t always remember to do so.

Our resident Portaholic has already started her collection of brew bottles and we’re surprised at the volume it’s already reached.  In just a few months she has accumulated over 30 bottles of different brews, which is quite a stretch for someone dedicated to Porters.  Sure, she’s branched out a bit, but we’re betting that collection is mostly made up of lovely Porters and creamy Stouts that she found along the way.

Remembering the brews of Winter is a great way to enjoy the warmth of a new Spring season

Spring isn’t necessarily always the warmest of seasons, but it certainly beats the bitter cold of winter.  At least, that’s what we’ve been told by our Northern comrades, as we’re quite comfortable down here in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Yes, we do realize the rest of the United States has spent most of the year hating us.  We’re sorry.  No really, we are.  Mother Nature blessed us this past season and we admit that we’re spoiled rotten and loving it.

That doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy going back over the great brews of Winter such as Lakefront Brewery’s Brandy Barrel Spiced Winter Lager and Brooklyn Brewery’s Insulated.  These brews kept us warm throughout the winter and are great memories of the season past.

We’d love to hear about some of the amazing winter brews you came across this past season so don’t hesitate to leave us a comment about them.  Perhaps they’ll be added to our next post!  For now, we’ve got to get back to doing what we love, which is working our way to our opening later this year here at West Palm Beach Brewery and The Vault.  Cheers!
