That’s a great Stout!

Our Journey

With so many hopped up brews hitting the market as of late, we thought we’d take a step back and try out some of the great stout beers on the market.  After all, these brews are known for their delicious flavor profiles, as well as their promise in the bottle aging category.  They make a great gift choice for any occasion and there are a wide variety of stout types to choose from.  Check out the brews we’ve featured below and see which one is your favorite!

  • Funky Buddha: NIB Smuggler Chocolate Stout
  • Founders Brewing Company: Dirty Bastard
  • Founders Brewing Company: Backwoods Bastard
  • Samuel Smith’s: Organic Chocolate Stout
  • Deschutes Brewery: Obsidian Stout
  • Rogue Ales: Chocolate Stout
  • Ale Asylum: Big Slick Stout
  • Bell’s Brewery: Kalamazoo Stout
  • East End Brewing Company: Black Strap Stout
  • 3 Floyd’s Brewing Company: Backmasking Oatmeal Stout
  • Alaskan Brewing Company: Alaskan Stout
  • Otter Creek Brewing Company: Couch Surfer
  • North Coast Brewing Company: Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

As you can see, there is a very long list of stouts to choose from and this is far from a full listing of all of the amazing stouts available on the market today.  Our favorites in the list are in bold and we’re sure you’ll be adding one or two of them to your own favorite’s list once you get a chance to try them.  Unless, of course, you’re not a stout lover, in which case we can only hope that you learn to love stouts as much as we do once you try them.

A great stout is not hard to find

Not everyone is a stout lover, but those who are really seem to like those coming from Founders, Deschutes, and Rogue Ales especially.  We also suggest Funky Buddha as their offerings are amazing across the board!  They’ve gained enough popularity that their ales are commanding some pretty big prices at this point and many other craft breweries are striving to reach their level of popularity.

Even our resident Portaholic loves some of these stouts, especially Founders Brewing Company’s Dirty Bastard and their Breakfast Stout.  We were somewhat surprised as she does not often find a brew outside of her beloved porters that she really likes, let alone adds to her favorites.

If you happen to have some favorite stouts of any type, leave us a comment so we can check them out.  You never know, they could become our next featured post subject!  We love to hear about the many different craft brews that our readers have found and hope to hear from you soon!
